Finally complete.. Wait?! Aw, crap!

This weekend I managed to get the last of the decaling, panel-lining, and most of the top-coating done. As I was ready to assemble the head, I realized that I had lost a piece! Komatta na! I looked all around my work area, but found nothing. So I moved my desk and shelves, and still found nothing.

So I resigned myself to making one from scratch. It didn't turn out too badly, but after assembling the head, the face doesn't quite look symmetrical.

It may haunt me til the day I die.
Also compled the fin funnels. These will go on after I do the final top coat on the chest and head.
I didn't do a full test-build of the Hi-Nu before starting modifications. I didn't realize how tall this kit is. And I made it even taller!
Next update should be the final completed shots. Then off to SGBP!

  1. Looking good! Was it the chin that you lost?

  2. No, the chin I actually reshaped some time ago. It was the small section that goes between the eyes and the faceplate. I actually found it in the Hi-Nu Manual shortly after posting this entry so I quickly removed the scratch-built pieces, scraped off the glue and stuck the original part on.

  4. Crisis averted.. I don't know what I'd do if I lost a part.

I've just been looking back over your previous entries and that little girl of yours is a real sweetheart. I have one about the same age. I was in Japan visiting my wife's folks. They took me to the Toys backwards R Us for that April sale as well.

I don't know if you've found out or not but frosting from top coat usually comes from spraying too close and too heavily. Several light coats from 20cm+ away with proper drying time between is the answer. :)

  5. Ya, that sale was pretty good. sometimes you can get some good deals there. I picked up the GM ver2.0 for around 1,900 yen the other day and promptly threw it on the 'to do' pile.

The top-coating on the Hi-nu has been going better, but I don't spray if there are clouds in the sky, and I make sure I am standing far enough away.

  6. I found TRU to be a bit overpriced outside of sale time. The best prices I found were at Hyakuman Boruto. Do any of you guys have that store or is it a regional thing?
