GN-X Gallery

Kit: MG GN-X

You can read my review of this kit at the bottom of this entry.

I wanted to like this kit. It looked cool. And for the most part, I did enjoy the build as it was quite different from any MG I have built before. However, this kit has a major problem which cannot be ignored; the looseness of the joints. To put it bluntly, this thing can't really stand up on its own anymore. I was hoping to get some good action shots for the gallery, but it was a struggle just to get it to stay on its feet. When the ankle and knee joints were able to support it, the hip joints would fail and it would inevitably topple backwards due to the wait of its tail. Also the funky looking, insect-wing fins pop off easily. Far too easily, in fact. When trying to position its legs for a photo, the wings would simply fall off and lie on the table. As I mentioned previously, the build was enough to keep my interest, and the look is unique so points there. The fact that Bandai included a large amount of dry-transfers is also a plus in my books. Unfortunately, it loses a lot of marks for simply feeling so fragile and weak.

GNX test shots

The WIP is still in progress on the Gundam Australia Forum so be sure to check it out. I have moved onto the markings and the panel lines. Without water seal decals (C'mon Bandai...) I am using the dry transfers and, occasionally, the stickers (blech!). Bandai has included, as dry transfers, unit number markings, ranging from number 1, Patrick's Machine, to number 30!!

1-10 are AEU units (whatever that means)
11-20 are 人革連 units (still no idea)
21-30 are ウニオン units (ya lost me)

machines of note (translating from katakana here):
#1 Patrick's
#11 Sergei's
#20 Pierce's
#21 Graham's
#22 Daryll's
#25 Henry's

I have asked the members of the Gundam Australian Forum to help pick out which number this unit I am constructing will be. I await the results.

GAF GN-X WIP

Yes, that is a lot of TLA (three letter acronyms). As you readers may or may not know, I have started building the newest Master Grade Gundam from Bandai, the GN-X (pronounced jinx). As something new, I decided to keep the work in progress on the Gundam Australian Forum.

You can view the WIP here.

But so my blog won't be devoid of pictures I will post this exclusive. That's the top half of the GNX holding his GN Drive [T] as if it were a football. You can see he is straight-arming with his left hand. Protect the rock! Superbowl this sunday, folks!

I should also have a couple of new galleries up next week (and the GN-X isn't one of them).
