V Gundam Joint Project

An American Salaryman in Tokyo and Gaijin Gunpla (hereafter, ASM & GaiGun) are proud to announce their first collaboration project. They will both be building the Master Grade Victory Gundam "Ver. Ka" kits, in their own color and styles, building up to a reveal in the
photoshoot to be done at the GaiGun photo studio. ASM and GaiGun have settled on the following goals to be loosely adhered to in their build:
  • Aside from the white parts and inner frame, the kit will be painted
  • The official waterslides will be utilized
  • The final colors will be kept secret until both kits are finished and photographed.
ASM and GaiGun are both very excited to bring you this new collaboration, which is a culmination of an evening of drinking in Akihabara. Alcohol and an idle idea from GaiGun has lead to what they hope to be an exciting first in many to come collaborations. Please look forward to it!

This outta be fun. More information soon. Just a word for now though;

This kit is small

and complex!

Shin Matsunaga Redux!

I got tired of looking at Mr. Matsunaga's White Wolf standing on my desk with all his stickers on. So I changed some things. For more information and pics, check out his redone gallery.
I did lose one Bclub hand though... dammit.

GNX test shots

The WIP is still in progress on the Gundam Australia Forum so be sure to check it out. I have moved onto the markings and the panel lines. Without water seal decals (C'mon Bandai...) I am using the dry transfers and, occasionally, the stickers (blech!). Bandai has included, as dry transfers, unit number markings, ranging from number 1, Patrick's Machine, to number 30!!

1-10 are AEU units (whatever that means)
11-20 are 人革連 units (still no idea)
21-30 are ウニオン units (ya lost me)

machines of note (translating from katakana here):
#1 Patrick's
#11 Sergei's
#20 Pierce's
#21 Graham's
#22 Daryll's
#25 Henry's

I have asked the members of the Gundam Australian Forum to help pick out which number this unit I am constructing will be. I await the results.

RX-78-2 Ver KA Gallery

I took this guy home last weekend and did some panel lining. There is not much in the way of articulation from a kit released in 2002, so its ability to pose is minimal. Feels good to finally get him in front of the camera so I know that he is considered officially finished.

GAF GN-X WIP

Yes, that is a lot of TLA (three letter acronyms). As you readers may or may not know, I have started building the newest Master Grade Gundam from Bandai, the GN-X (pronounced jinx). As something new, I decided to keep the work in progress on the Gundam Australian Forum.

You can view the WIP here.

But so my blog won't be devoid of pictures I will post this exclusive. That's the top half of the GNX holding his GN Drive [T] as if it were a football. You can see he is straight-arming with his left hand. Protect the rock! Superbowl this sunday, folks!

I should also have a couple of new galleries up next week (and the GN-X isn't one of them).

Gouf Ver 2.0 Gallery

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen. I did the majority of the build at the kitchen table with my daughter who now, when she sees gundam in Hobby Japan, says "Daddyの" (Daddy's).

I am still working on posing it and creating a good shot, but the Gouf is really photogenic as you can see for yourself.

my favourite shot

What's next for me? I don't know yet. I have two other MG's in the works (in the midst of decaling now) and have developed a liking for a couple of the newer ones...
