V Gundam Joint Project

An American Salaryman in Tokyo and Gaijin Gunpla (hereafter, ASM & GaiGun) are proud to announce their first collaboration project. They will both be building the Master Grade Victory Gundam "Ver. Ka" kits, in their own color and styles, building up to a reveal in the
photoshoot to be done at the GaiGun photo studio. ASM and GaiGun have settled on the following goals to be loosely adhered to in their build:
  • Aside from the white parts and inner frame, the kit will be painted
  • The official waterslides will be utilized
  • The final colors will be kept secret until both kits are finished and photographed.
ASM and GaiGun are both very excited to bring you this new collaboration, which is a culmination of an evening of drinking in Akihabara. Alcohol and an idle idea from GaiGun has lead to what they hope to be an exciting first in many to come collaborations. Please look forward to it!

This outta be fun. More information soon. Just a word for now though;

This kit is small

and complex!

  2. You're more than welcome, Buster. We were even talking about you while we discussed Gunpla and drank.

  3. Awesome news

But standard waterslides only? Why the limit?

Also gaijin I should tell you your Sinaju has inspired me to expand my scale modelling to gundam as well! I've bought a Zaku II Kai along with all sorts of new paints and decals. I've just finished semi-assembling it and once the new paints come in I'll start airbrushing it. Kudos!

  4. @eviltedz43: One reason to use the standard waterslides is that despite colour differences in our kits they will show uniformity (somewhat) with the markings.

I am truly honoured to read that my work can and has inspired someone else. It is very humbling. If you don't mind, I would really like to see your work on your first gundam kit!

  5. good to know thanks. next time im in the saitama area i hope i can get a chance to have a drink or 6 with you two! hehe looking forward to the dual WIPS! mg v gundam has definitely started to grow on me. dont care much for the transformation gimmicks but the model itself (despite how small it is) has started to look quite cool to me now!

  6. @Gaijin Gunpla
I suppose that could be cool later for the photoshopping. It will look like a single unit almost.

And yeah you can watch my progress here:

I've decided to setup a blog myself. Since I already keep a modelling journal (so I don't forget half the stuff I do) it will be rather easy and cool too look back at!

  8. @buster: Make it so! As you will see this V Gundam is quite the kit. I am already impressed with the engineering of it. There are a lot of parts for a kit so small.

@eviltediz43: Your blog is off to a good start and looking good. I will definitely be keeping an eye on it.

@mangyer5223: I think this collaboration will produce some good results. If my paint scheme works...

  9. @Buster, definitely get in on the Hazel collaboration, I've already got a press release in mind. ;) Also, do let us when you think you may be in the Tokyo area on a Saturday. Me and GaiGun meet up in Akiba for plenty of reasons, but the biggest one is that it's literally the halfway point for us between Saitama and Yokohama. And the Hub has a good happy hour special there too. ;)
